Here’s my dilemma…
While I’m oh so tired of hiking through snow banks to drag the trash can in and sliding my way across the parking lot at the grocery store, I’m more than a little reluctant for spring to arrive.
Before you throw things at me or poke a stick in my eye, hear me out.
After almost 11 years in this historic old house, it will be going on the market sometime this spring.
BOO HOO
I’m trying to remind myself every day now to “suck it up buttercup.”
But it ain’t easy, y’all.
We walk to Farmer’s Market…
Skip two blocks down to the 577 Foundation to play in clay or take a watercolor class
Or just play with the flowers and family in the yard…
Getting the House Ready to Sell
So far getting ready to sell has been a lot of work.
Cleaning the basement. Ruthlessly ransacking closets for things we don’t use or wear. Dragging trunk loads of boxes to Goodwill.
And don’t even get me started on the garage…
I decided it was time to do some of the fun stuff that will help sell the house at (hopefully!) at least what I paid for it. Since the housing market crashed here a few years ago, it’s been very slow in rebounding.
So I’ve been researching tips for staging the house.
Are you in my same boat?
I know alot of people are in the spring.
So I decided to share what I’ve found that makes the most sense!
Staging This Old House
I’ve started throwing pictures I tear out of magazines in a file. Pinning things to my Staged to Sell Pinterest Board.
And wondering around the house taking a good hard look at every little thing…
Are you ready?
Here’s part one of my game plan.
The Entry Way
I’ve never been happy with the way the entry looks.
Mostly because I inherited these two old chairs that I love and don’t have another place for them.
Now that the house is up for sale, it is more important than ever to pump this area up! Besides the curb appeal, the entry way is the next real first impression of the house.
I’m kind of liking the picture below, but the trick will be finding a temporary home for these grand old chairs.
This one is nice too!
A Spa Like Bathroom
In our overbooked, overextended, overtired lives don’t we all crave a little me time?
Here are a few resources I found to help make the master en suite bathroom look a little more like a spa.
(Seriously great post! I’m more relaxed just looking at the beautiful photos.)

Organizing the Kitchen
I started working on cleaning out each and every kitchen cupboard and drawer.
Pitching or donating the old stuff…
Packing up the fun coffee mugs that don’t match.
Now I’m going to be painting the cupboards and island with Annie Sloan Chalk paints.
More to come later on that…
Here are a few sites that might help you tackle these tasks in a more organized way!

Organizing the Laundry Room
Not sure about you, but my laundry area seems to attract a wide assortment of “stuff.”
This site has some great tips to make it all look a little better…
Organize the Closets
I’ll be sharing mores tips as I work my way through the house.
Including putting those often raved about Annie Sloan Chalk Paints to the test on our kitchen cabinets and island!
I’ve also come up with some ideas for pumping up our curb appeal.
If the snow ever melts, that is!
