Like a Hummingbird on a Scavenger Hunt

April 18, 2016 By Shelley 2 Comments

I’ve been MIA from my blog for a while now.

Between getting the house ready to sell, trying to settle on a builder/architect for a new house, family obligations, my crazy Lupus, …a full time (plus) job…and the tough loss of a family member that’s left us all feeling blue…

I’ve found myself acting like a hummingbird on a scavenger hunt.

But in the midst of it all, I finally forced myself slowed down long enough to enjoy some artsy project time and to play outside a bit.

Yep…mucking around in the yard I love before we pack up and head north. Taking a few classes at favorite place (The 577 Foundation) and playing in clay. SIGH. Moving on isn’t easy.

So here’s a quick peek at what’s been happening at RNS…

And a promise to myself to get back on track with my blog!

Tulips in the Dining Room for Spring

This was done for Easter…

But it was so fun… I kept changing the flowers and let it stick around!

Spring Window Box and Containers in Progress

Because “spring” here is so unpredictable…

And by that I mean last weekend we had 10 inches of snow and this weekend it was 78 degrees!

It makes spring window boxes and containers a little more challenging

But here’s a quick peek at a few projects I will be sharing next week…

Firing Up Pottery Flowers for Garden Pots

Since spring flower choices are limited to hearty little pansies around here, I decided to whip up a few pottery ones.

Hoping to glaze them this week and add them to my spring containers…

Fun with Fiber Arts!

Finally… one of my new favorite things y’all. A great stress buster!

One of my pals is a fabulous fiber artist… I finally got around to taking one of her classes — I’m hooked.

I’m working on creating my own Fiber Art Fairy Garden to live in an old cigar box.

Here’s a peek behind the scenes…

You start with “hunks” of fiber that look like this

From fiber hunks to fairy gardens

And end up with these tiny little fairy garden pieces…

Next up?

I’ll be tackling a fiber landscape…Yikes! Hope I’m ready for this!

Coming Up at RNS

Over the next weeks and months I will be sharing a new home tour, tips for staging your home before a sale (boo-hoo), a peek at the new digs, and TONS of garden tips and tours.

Thanks for hanging in there with me during my break from blogging!

It’s so good to be back…

Welcome back! Sounds like it’s been a rough spring for you. Hope you’re feeling better! I am really intrigued with the fiber arts and needle felting. There are so many fabulous creations on Pinterest! Have you ever been to the fiber arts festival at Sauder Farm and Craft Village? I’d love to visit it one year. Sept. 1 and 2 this year. ( I have a friend who’s a fiber artist, too.) Love your pottery flowers! I’ve been making paper flowers in anticipation of garden season!

Thank you! Glad to be getting back in the groove again. No, I haven’t been to Sauder Village in years! I’m part of a committee that puts together the Fiber Arts Show at the 577 Foundation though. It is fun too! We are doing workshops instead of the juried srt show this year, but the show I’ll return in June of 2017. You might enjoy that. I will try to promote the dates on my blog next year!
