I forgot how much work it is to get a house ready to sell… It’s making me downright cranky!
All. This. Cleaning.
The good news is I am finally getting things somewhat organized and ready.
Then I can move on to the fun posts…staging this old house and sharing some of our plans for the new house we are building!
I did find a quick way to clean the stovetop that I wanted to share with you.
Super simple and cheap.
10 Minute Cleaning Hack for Gas Stovetops
And I’m so glad I finally found a way to work “hack” in to one of my blog posts…
When you read other blogs, they are always hacking things aren’t they? I’ve felt left out.
It seems like there is a hack for everything…
After some trial and error, I finally figured out a hack for cleaning my gas stovetop without a lot of muss, fuss, smelly fumes or cash.
When I bought a new gas stove for the house a few years ago, I was mostly worried about how to keep the stainless steel clean.
The stove top itself is black and the rest is stainless.
Our little furball pooch is only about 10 pounds and his nose somehow always seemed to leave imprints along the bottom drawer on the old stove…
What I hadn’t expected was how hard it would be to keep the top clean!
We never fry anything but it always seems to have what looks like a build up of grease on it…
Where does grease was this grease come from when we never use it to cook with???
After researching the topic a bit, what I discovered is gas stoves are all like that. They cook at a higher temperature which causes that gooey, gummy build up that drives me crazy.
I tried store bought cleansers of all kinds but they only succeeded in smearing the goo around more.
Then I read about baking soda as a cleaning agent when I started making my own green cleaning products.
Pay dirt!
Easiest and best way to clean your gas stovetop EVER…
4 Steps to a Clean and Sparkly Gas Stovetop
First take the grates and the little covers off the stovetop and soak them in the sink filled with hot water and baking soda…
Then pour a heaping scoop of baking soda in to a bowl…
Add some water and mix it up until it forms a paste…
Use a sponge and yes…your fingertips to cover the stovetop with the paste making sure to get in all the nooks and crannies...
Let it dry for about 10 or 15 minutes…
Then use hot water and a sponge to wipe it off.
This actually is the longest part of the project!
It takes a few good scrubbings to remove all of the baking soda residue….
Seriously…that is all there is to it!
Cheap and easy…
Our stovetop looks clean and sparkly for what seems like the first time since it was brand new!
Don’t you love cleaning hacks that are so quick and easy?
