I love this picture! Probably because they are three of my favorite little people in the world. They belong to one of my closest cousins. She sent me this picture one day after I got sick. It was taken on her cell while she was shuttling them from place to place. This is one of my tips for managing the daily stress and anxiety a long-term illness causes. I discovered it during the darkest days of my illness early on. Keep pictures that warm your frightened spirit close.
I’m a dedicated (O.k. …fanatical…) iPad user. Most days during the first few months after I got sick, my iPad was my link to the world outside my house and my immediate family. I was too sick to get much at all really… I used my iPad to surf the net, read and send emails, and most importantly to look at my favorite photos. I set up my slide shows and watched them over and over. Focusing on them helped me beat back the fears.
This one is another favorite. I took it at a family party. It makes me laugh and reminds me of happy times. Find the photos that make you smile and keep them close. Wish we could get Apple to give every chronic and life-limiting illness sufferer an iPad to help make that easier to do!
