Memorial Day Parade

May 21, 2015 By Shelley 2 Comments

Preparing the Garden for Memorial Day

Memorial Day Parade in a Historic Community

We are fortunate enough to get to call one of the Great Lake region’s historic little communities “home.”

It is so much fun to be just a few blocks away from all of the restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques and Farmer’s Market that our little town is known for.

One thing we love is that we are on the parade route.

But y’all… it is a lot of pressure this time of year.

Spring and summer come late here. In fact, we had frost just this week. Some folks even swear they saw a flurry or two.

That means we have very limited time to get the yard shaped up and looking good before the bands come marching through.

Add to that… we are a corner lot. Visitors to our little town for the parade and the Historic Homes Tour can literally see all the way around our house.

With just a few days left until the big day… here’s what things are looking like. I think it will give you a good idea why I’ve been absent from my blog for so long and why this post will be so short!

Yep..

Painting to be done. Weeds to be pulled. Flowers to be planted. Mulch to be well… mulched!

I have managed to get a few of our Patriotic decorations up in the yard. And the new “Liberty” letters that I made.

Have a safe and happy Memorial Day celebration!

Please come on back soon.

I’ll be sharing photos of the many home and garden projects I’ve been working on this Spring.

From finally finishing the girls McGregor’s garden to the mirrors I’m making for near the fountain and the pottery totem for one of my favorite containers!

Thank you! I’m hoping the weather cooperates so I can do an updated garden tour. It has rained for something like 17 days out of the last 19 so my flowers are a little sun-deprived right now.
