While spring seems to be eluding those of us who live in the Mitten State this year…it’s April 17th and I’ve yet to plant a single pansy because it won’t stop snowing… Mother’s Day is just around the corner. Snowflakes or not.
My little momma is just impossible to buy for! Yours too?
One thing my mom loves is her garden. She and Pops have a yard that is magazine worthy. Seriously. It’s peaceful and beautiful and much like a trip to a local park. Visitors never want to leave. (Not always a good thing if you know what I’m saying??)
Until his health problems started last year, they managed it all on their own.
Several acres of perennial gardens, a gnome garden they started when the kids were tiny, an herb garden, butterfly garden, a saints garden, and annuals for miles.
This year I decided to prowl around the internet and see what kinds of garden treasures I could find for my little momma for Mother’s Day.
And just an FYI… I have no skin in the game – no affiliate links on these. (I wish I were that organized really!) Just sharing some fun stuff I hope you’ll like, too.
Garden Gifts for Mother’s Day
I love the idea of helping my little momma continue gardening in much safer ways, like in containers. And how beautiful are these two copper pots??
This has been in my Amazon cart forever… a salad bowl set that looks like a wheelbarrow and garden tools. My momma is known for her fab salads so this seems like a winner, too.
Along those same lines…edible flowers.
They are so pretty in salads or frozen in ice cubes for summer drinks.
This set of seeds is from Johnny’s Selected Seeds. It contains only the seeds…
This edible flowers kit from Harris Seeds is another option… it contains everything you need to start an edibles garden. Since snow is predicted again today…Grrrrr… this makes for a good indoor activity.
My parents both love growing their own veggies, especially tomatoes. But their traditional vegetable garden just isn’t in the cards for them now. I think this could be a great way for them to safely grow tomatoes on their patio?
Might be an idea for Pops for Father’s Day, too.
Since they’ve started downsizing their gardens, I thought another good option would be to help my parents increase their garden art. They have loads of bird houses and feeders, but the one above is for butterflies. Fun right?
This trestle plant stand would look great on my parents’ patio, and give my mom a little extra space for container gardens. She could also use it for a drink stand too.
I know she’ll love that it comes from my old college stomping grounds — Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Another way to attract butterflies is to give them shelter right? The one above looks like a nice, natural fit for my mom’s garden.
So what is the winner? Tough decision but…
The garden goodie that will be making it’s way to my little momma’s home for Mother’s Day is this one.
Since my mom loves her outdoor herb garden, I think she’ll love this cedar window box. It’s one she can place in the bay window of the family room and grow herbs all year around. And I’m planning to round up a few packets of edible flowers to add to it.
Anything I miss that you think others who read this would love? Or that I should put on my list for Pops for Father’s Day? Drop me a note or leave it in the comments section below.
Are we connected on Instagram and Pinterest? With all the political fighting on other social media channels, they are really the only two channels I’m looking at these days…
Until next time,
Shelley
