Fall of 2014
Somehow the music from Star Trek is going through my head. You know how they say: Enterprise. Captain’s Logs. October 2014? Or some such thing…
While I was never a trekie, when I was a grad student at Johns Hopkins both my roommates were med students. Those guys loved William Shatner and crew! I feel like this expedition will be catapulting us in to unchartered territory. I have a couple of builders that are family of family I’ve been talking with on and off the past few years. Now that it looks like the move north is really going to happen, I decided to research other options and contact a few more builders. Just to chat and see what they offer.
Three weeks ago, I left messages for three different builders. Sent two of the three email messages, too. (One didn’t even have a website!)
Guess how many return my call?
Zero. Nada. The big goose egg.
I knew we may run in to problems and delays staying on track because builders use sub-contractors who aren’t always Johnny on the Spot. You don’t live in a historic home for more than ten years without learning that.
But I never dreamed builders wouldn’t even call back…
Finding a Builder Blues
Can you trust a builder that doesn’t even call you back in three weeks????
Hmmm… I say NO.
This could be a long and bumpy road. Glad I tracked down these pink hard hats and tools. May need to build this place myself…
