Do you have your glitter and sparkles ready to turn up?
It’s hard to believe another new year is upon us!
And another excuse to shake up a few chocolate martinis.
I’ve scoured the web to find a few new martini recipes for you to try and pulled together the directions and photos for a few of my own personal creations.
Fun Twists on Chocolate Martinis
My two favorite homespun chocolate martinis are:
Chocolate Kahlua Irishman and the Chocolate Raspberry Twist!
The first one is fairly dangerous… just ask my high school bestie!
She still says she was hit by the “chocolate martini bus” when we shook these up at my “Work in Progress Party” (aka housewarming party).
She was one sick chick…
Couple Quick Martini Tricks
I consider myself to be something of a chocolate martini connoisseur. But I am also always in a hurry! So, I’m not gonna lie, the fancy chocolate swirls and twirls that look so pretty in pictures, don’t often make in in to my real life martinis. But there are a few tricks I do always take time to do no matter what type of chocolate martini I am making:
- I fill my stainless martini shaker about one-third of the way full of ice and then stick it in the freezer. It really helps it get nice and cold!
- I also drop a chocolate kiss in the bottom of the martini glass. By the time you drink the martini and get to the bottom –unless you chug them which I don’t advise see note above about my high school bestie – the liquor has soaked in to the chocolate and it provides a yummy little surprise!
Chocolate Kahlua Irishman
With ice in the bottom of the martini shaker add:
2 shots of Godiva chocolate liqueur
1 shot of vodka
1 shot of Bailey’s
1 shot of Kahlua
Shake it all up! Pour and enjoy…
A couple variations on this one include leaving out the Kahlua and adding the Mint version of Baileys or leaving out the Baileys and substituting caramel vodka for the regular. So you end up with a Mint Chocolate Martini or a Chocolate Caramel Martini!
Chocolate Raspberry Twist
Who doesn’t love chocolate and raspberry??
Again, with ice in the bottom of the martini shaker:
2 shots of Godiva chocolate liqueur
1 shot of vodka
1 shot of Chambord
Give it a good shake before pouring!
One final note on either of these recipes…
If these are too strong (yep – they are pure alcohol) you can add some cream or even a little milk. They still taste great and aren’t quite so painful the next day for those who overindulge!
Other Fun Chocolate Martini Recipes I Discovered
A few years ago my sister and I were feeling a little down. Our beloved southern grandmother had passed just days before Christmas. She was a woman who loved the holidays. In no small part because she loved gifts! Even though we each visited her at least once a week, we never went to see her without taking one. Beautiful lotions, yummy treats and clothing were her favorites.
Since half of our gene pool qualifies us as southerners and the other half as Irish gals, we decided alcohol might be the cure.
NOTE: This really isn’t typical behavior for us.
We had a few S’mores martinis at a popular chain restaurant. They were fabulous! This recipe comes pretty darned close…
It even looks fun doesn’t it?
Do you love white chocolate? This may be the perfect martini for you!
It combines Bailey’s Irish Cream with white chocolate Godiva liqueur and espresso-flavored vodka.
Frosty the Snowman Chocolate Martini
The next recipe comes from the fine folks who brought us the S’mores Martini recipe.
How do you resist a drink that combines Peppermint Hot Chocolate with RumChata and vodka??
You don’t.
Great fun drink for New Year’s Eve or for a winter picnic…
Peppermint Hot Chocolate Martini
This final one in my round up is a simple recipe for a Chocolate Martini.
No frills just Godiva liqueur, creme de cocoa, milk, and vanilla vodka.
That’s a wrap on 2014!
