Isn’t life just crazy? This year has been especially so.
I’m glad to be back to my blog!! It’s been far too long.
From January through April, I was a woman on a mission to get our historic home ready to sell. Crossing my fingers that the market had recovered enough just to get what I paid waaaay back when. I never dreamed of recovering even some of the tens of thousands of dollars that went in to restoring it.
Packing Up and Moving
In less than two days on Zillow we were sorting through a crazy number of offers for way beyond asking price!
The home inspection went off without a hitch which put the whole process on a warp speed timeline.
But it’s honestly not a move this crew is excited to make. Sammie is especially sad.
He somehow realizes his BFFs next door will be left behind. His bestie moved in next door just weeks after Sammie winged his way in to our hearts on a plane from North Dakota. They’ve literally grown up together.
While Michigan is home to my northern roots (my little momma’s side of the family), after more than twelve years living here, our current little historic burg truly is home.
I gave myself until the end of July to whine and feel sorry for myself…
Times up y’all! And I know it!
This butter cup is sucking it up and moving on. Literally.
Historic House Tour Coming Up
I’ve taken a crazy amount of pictures and have room-by-room posts of the old house already in the works.
So I will share one final home tour this summer and fall.
And tips to help you sell your house on Zillow and avoid realtors fees is coming soon!
Then we will lock the back door on this old house for the last time…
New Home & Garden Makeover
While the new house is almost brand new (for folks who’ve lived in houses more than 100 years old anything built in the last decade is new!), it had been neglected inside and out for a long time.
The front yard needs major excavating and clean up – a little hard to tell in photos…
And the inside needs everything…new floors, paint and more!
So I hope you will come along on our journey to breath life and character in to our new house!
New House in the Works
Here are a few peeks at what we’ve done so far…
Garden Tours, Fairy Gardens and More
And it wouldn’t be summer at Roots North and South without a healthy dose of outdoor life…
We’ve managed to squeeze in time with our favorite peeps to go on garden tours, attend a fairy conference (outside in the pouring rain!) and more.
Lots of fun and great ideas I’ll be working in to the new digs…
Thanks —as always — for visiting!
XO
Shelley
