Simply Seasonal: Tour of Blogger Homes at Christmas
I’m excited to be participating in another one of Caroline from Organize Nashville’s seasonal home tours! If you found your way here from A Purdy Little House — welcome! Isn’t her blog great?
This is our first year in our new house, and it’s been fun to decorate! While it’s taken a little longer to find just the right spot for our Christmas treasures, it is finally almost done.
I thought I would invite you in to see our main living room and give you a peek at a few things to come in blog posts over the next few weeks.
So come on in…
The front porch and our big container gardens are a giveaway for what you will find a lot of inside… snow people!
I’ll share some tips on creating a winter container garden in a week or two. (Here’s a peek back at a spring urn I did when we put our old house on the market.)
Decorating the Great Room for Christmas
Our snowman tree takes center stage…
Largely because the center of the room is the only place we could figure out to put it!
Our new house is in Michigan near Ann Arbor where we grew up. While we’ve spent a lot of time in the summer in northern Michigan, the Great Lake state hasn’t been home for a long time. It’s a nature-loving state so our great room tree was the perfect fit!
He’s a fun tree with scarves, mittens and gobs of winter-related ornaments…
I’ll be honest and share with you that taking photos in this house is a real challenge for my amateur photography skills. While I love all the light the house gets… it sure makes it tough to photograph. I’m battling the blur with every photo I take!
The house is scattered with many snow folks we’ve picked up in our travels and received as gifts… this little guy is the most recent edition. My parents found him up north and I just love him…
Decorating for Christmas
I like to use a lot of colorful holiday plaids…
Including putting my poinsettia that I placed in a buffalo plaid container I found for $3.00 at Target! Don’t you just love a bargain?
Plaid winter scarves make great accents everywhere from the stairway garland to a table runner or a tree skirt…
Decorating the Fireplace Mantle
Our new house has a three-sided fireplace. It wasn’t the traditional fireplace I wanted, but it has definitely grown on me.
I decided to decorate one side with these sparkly trees after they caught my eye at a few different stores this fall…
The fireplace is still a work in progress but so far I like it.
I picked up some icy garland that may still find it’s way on to this mantle before Christmas…
I’ll be sharing all three sides of the mantle in a post next week along with a great holiday punch (with a bit of a kick y’all!), some appetizers and a peek at our dining room tablescape. Use the Subscription box to sign up to get my updates a few times a month!
Hope you have a few minutes longer to head over a enjoy a few more homes that are on today’s tour. Next up is Pender & Peony. You can find the link to her blog and the other great bloggers that are participating below…
Enjoy! And thanks again for stopping by…
