Tips for Adding Art to the Garden

August 11, 2015 By Shelley Leave a Comment

Photo Tour of Some of the Art in My Garden

I posted this photo on my Instagram a few weeks ago…

Art in the Garden

Since then I’ve had people ask me how I keep it looking so good outdoors.

If you have visited my blog before, you probably know I am addicted to sealer.

Seriously.

Don’t stand in my yard in one place for too long or I may just seal you!

I love bringing the outside in and the inside out.

The latter is trickier.

I found this picture super cheap at one of the craft stores. I knew instantly it needed to find a home in my garden.

I tried researching ways to preserve artwork outdoors and didn’t have much luck!

So I went to my fall back sealer…

Here it is in another outdoor project.

Bird Houses and Window Boxes

I put multiple coats of sealer on every centimeter of the artwork.

It also helps that it is a little bit sheltered under a big, ‘ole tree in the corner of our yard.

See what I mean?

This tree is a biggin, as my grandpa would say.

Shade Garden Annuals

But we have had record setting rain this spring and summer.

May broke records. June broke records and ditto for July.

And the picture is still looking good!

No, this isn’t a sponsored Krylon post either. Although I should probably think about buying stock in Krylon y’all? I’m no doubt one of their best customers!

The shelving unit below is another one I sealed the heck out of…

I also put a few drainage holes in the bottom of each shelf.

It’s been outside since mid-May and still looking good!

Creative Containers for an Edibles Garden

So that’s my “big” tip for working art in to the garden…

Thank you for stopping by!

XO
